UK NCC (National Computer Centre)

Mark Allardyce is an alumni of NCC Education who has a CV that could only reflect the goals of the most ambitious businessman, as he has successfully managed to set up his own business and sell it on the London Stock Exchange for over £4 million. Mark often says that his success is thanks to NCC Education, recalling his qualification as his “passport to industry.”

Mark, an NCC Education graduate from the University of Salford, is glad he studied for his computing qualification with NCC and wanted to share the secret to his success with other aspiring students so that they too can achieve their dreams.

Mark’s story:

Upon graduating from the University of Salford, Mark worked in the Computer Laboratory for some years before moving to British Nuclear Fuels as Senior Operations Consultant. Being an accomplished climber and sportsman, he began delivering lectures at Salford on recreation and outdoor activity and developed a specific interest in software systems. Field trips to the Arctic studying the effects of exercise in extreme conditions on staff and students led to establishing a software R&D unit at Salford’s Human Performance Laboratory.

From there, Mark pioneered his own interactive healthcare software and set up his first independent software development company. With significant in-roads into healthcare and corporate markets, he screened hundreds of thousands of employees throughout the UK and Europe.

His venture grew stronger as he developed a wider portfolio of products. With ambition driving him, Mark positioned the company as the number one interactive healthcare software supplier. These systems eventually supported around 9 million lives, provided 40% of UK secondary care cardiac rehabilitation units with online diagnostic assessment, and were backed by a team of over sixty programmers, project managers and technicians working across several countries. A major reason for success was delivering full medical audit trails, invaluable to clinicians.

CALM was sold for over £4 million in 2000. Mark stayed on as CEO, leading offices in Manchester, London, New York and Jerusalem.

Since retiring from the PLC, Mark has established, launched and sold several more businesses. As Founder Director of his current companies — CICCWORLD.com (interactive learning) and IPGOS.com (interactive publishing) — he has led a formidable international development team. Always pushing boundaries, harnessing new capabilities, improving efficiency and creating powerful online education and publishing systems.

With offices in Manchester and New York, the group is now positioned for an exciting period of expansion.

Mark was also a speaker at the NCC Education 6th International Conference on the beautiful island of Langkawi in October 2008, sharing his success story with hundreds of delegates. His presentation was a testament to both the quality of education he received and his own hard work and tenacity. He reminded students to be prepared to start at the bottom, accept that along the way they’ll face heartache and disappointment, and to keep going with true tenacity.

His final words to them were:

“Never underestimate the truly international power of your NCC education!”

Mark is always pleased to help NCC Education students. If you’d like to organise a talk and presentation, please contact marketing for more information.
